Melanie Durio, who took off work to leave the team, said she could hardly contain his excitement. "I was waiting for them," she said. "They were my favorite team (for) years."

Dustie Latiolais said a big reason why he still supported the Ragin Cajuns is that his son, Dawson 2 do not like to miss a game.

Head coach Mark Hudspeth said his players have since 1 August is practiced, and are willing to take on the Pirates of East Carolina University.

"I am proud that we as fans are there with us. It is a great experience," says Hudspeth.

Hudspeth said more than 50,000 people visit the R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, and nearly 30,000 of them are fans Cajuns.

"They completely hands on the rope and pulled hard for us. This is (a) it is so special," he said.
