Dior chief says demand Elastic luxury European]
PARIS, France - European demand for luxury goods is proving resilient, the head of the fashion brand Christian Dior Monday, minimizing the recent slowdown of rival LVMH said parents Kering seen.
Although the Euro-recession and slowdown in China have put the brakes on the growth of luxury, Sidney Toledano told Reuters he was optimistic about the future and said that there is still a demand for high quality European luxury goods.
"In Europe, demand is proving resilient, thanks to the quality and excellence of our know-how," Toledano said on the sidelines of the Dior fashion show.
"I am confident."
CEO Toledano also stated that there was a resurgence of demand from customers in the U.S. and Asian demand is still very strong.
Dior is due to publish its annual results for the year ended in June 2013. In the first nine months of the fiscal year, sales rose 19 percent to € 971 million ($ 1.27 billion).
